I had a 1959 Edsel. I would take it to car shows and I'd hear people say how ugly it was. I loved it! The 1960's would have looked a little better if the tail lights lay down across the back... (I think). Anyway they should have brought it back this year 2008 for it's 50th birthday! I think it might of looked like a Jaguar with the front grill and all. Just a thought!

For me it's a great car... ;)

The Jaguar grille these days does resemble a squashed Edsel grille... The '60 Edsel tail lights were vertical to recall the vertical grille (the same lights were used, tilted at a 45-degree angle, on the "Edsel" (Mercury) Comet... Speaking of Pontiac, the 1960 Edsel was to have a vertical impact bar in the grille, but Ford officials ordered the grille changed to look like a '59 Pontiac! Pontiac changed its grille for 1960 as a matter or course...but went back to a split grille for '61!

Thank for the imfo! I did think that the 1960,s Edsel front and Pontiac where a lot alike. I collect 1:18 scale diecast and I only buy the cars in org. shape (No Ghetto tires or flames) what not. My last one I got was a 1958 Lincoln. That is one big car!!! Diecast made the 1958 Edsel so whats wrong with just doing the other two years. I'd like to pick a few for them to do. Like the 1959 Dodge.

What's with the horse's ass

Wow--shame that it took 10 years for the '59 Edsel grille to take off...just look at the front end of any 1968 Pontiac Catalina, Executive, Bonneville or Grand Prix...if that isn't a copy of the '59 Edsel, then what is?

No kidding. Don't forget the 1970 T bird.

It's true, Edsel was too much futuristic, but today I really love it! ;)

I thought the same thing about the grill.

Amazing - this is commercial is very hard to come across!!!
