This is footage taken from a UGA Study Abroad trip to Kruger National Park in South Africa in June 2007. Taking a rest from our walk, our group was sitting by a spring when a group of elephants walked out in front us. They had young with them and thus were very wary of our presence. After forming a circle formation, the matriarch female of the group then ended up charging towards us. Our guide stepped up to meet off the charge, and thankfully it was effective. Pretty incredible encounter, especially to have on foot.
