I don't wanna sound philosophical, and your vision is also pretty valide, but my vision of dying is..... well.... your soul/mind/taughts fading away (I think, therefore I am, to put it shortly), what didn't happen. So, yeah, you're right, he died in your eyes. But in my eyes, he's still alive.

What do you think will happen in third season(if there`s one)with Lee,and yeah you did sound a little philosophical!
