IRAN-US Negotiation
"To resolve Iraqi issues, and to help the establishment of an independent and free government in Iraq, we agree to (talks with the United States)," Larijani told reporters after a closed meeting of parliament Thursday March 15 2006.
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, referred to the possibility of talks between Iranian and US representatives on Iraq, and reiterated that since the US, as the occupying power, has not done its duty for maintaining security in Iraq and on the contrary is scheming to overthrow the elected government by backing terrorists, the Iranian foreign ministry, on the request of the Iraqi government, has decided to serve notice and remind Americans of their duty to maintain security in Iraq by agreeing to hold face-to-face dialogue.
He said the US officials, through an officially written request, have asked for a direct dialogue with Iran.
The Leader reiterated "We just want to remind the occupiers of fulfilling their duty in maintaining security in Iraq."
However, Ayatollah Khamenei made it clear that the Islamic Republic of Iran's policy in abstaining from negotiations with the US will be in force as long as the arrogant regime in the White House does not make policy changes.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has written President Bush an 18-page letter discussing religious values, history and international relations.

I am a little "iffy" on the idea of Iran helping the U.S. with a Democratic Iraq, and Iran training the Iraq forces in charge of security... But Iran was Carter's fault and Carter's alone. No more re-writing history. As long as Bush does opposite of what Carter wants, everything should be fine!
