He spent most of his career banking 60 degrees+ and flying way beyond safe limits with the B52. At one point taking one with "no more than three feet" clearance over a ridge. The minimum height in this area was 500 feet.
This guy was the first and only b-52 stunt pilot... he did a lot of sick shit with b-52s, and no one wanted to fly with him because it was just too dangerous. For that air show, they pretty much selected a few air force officers at random... needless to say, that sucks for them, but the pilot had it coming
