My Dad was nose gunner on a 15th Air Force B-24 in Italy 1944-45, told me stories to stand your hair on end; and I flew in the Collings Foundation B-24 myself. He was 1 of 2 guys survived from the original crew of 10. Fought the first jets, ME262s, too fast for the B-24 guns to track. That flight was an experience for a lifetime---God bless every person who did so much for us in this incredible machine!
thanks''much''
nice doco, thanks for posting it up! I dont think the Liberator was the ugly duckling at all, I think it looked tough!! and it had to be aswell, a very fine aircraft! My grandfather had a small solid metal model of one that I think he received for his service with coastal command.
ofcourse enemy... pilots were able to paint/detail their plane with, i forgot the name of it, but your own personal art on the plane, such as glamour girls or whatever they were called, or other designs, like flying tigers (sharks teeth, and eyes) and so on
I love how you can put huge artwork on the sides
B-24 is the most produced and used bomber in history.
My father saw some of them, here in Brazil, when he was a child.
