Vanity / Denise Mathews is so Beautiful

This was during the time when Vanity was doing a lot of TV series shows like Miami Vice, Tales From the Crypt and Friday the 13th. I wonder if she stayed in Hollywood, she would've sooner or later became a Bonds' Girl? She had that look of one.

I think Vanity started doing lots of tv gigs because the rest of her career was unfortunately winding down...Action Jackson was her last big-time movie, and she was dropped from her recording contract in 1988 after Berry Gordy sold his Motown ownership to MCA. Vanity had recorded a 3rd album, but it was never released as a result of this. I don't know what would have happened to her career had she stayed in Hollywood-maybe a full-time gig on a tv show??

The reasonings for doing TV gigs you gave might've been the case. But, I do know, when she did Friday the 13th, she performed Undress and later that year, she performed it again during her guest appearance on a Teen Modeling pageant which was aired nationwide. If she didn't suffer from kidney failure and going blind in one eye, which all led to her finding "Jesus", she might've stayed with both TV and movies and axed the music career altogether.

So you think her career would have been like Vanessa Williams (who has done movies and now "Ugly Betty" after ending her music career)? Do you know if Vanity ever tried to quit cocaine before her health crisis? Also, since I was really young back then, was it all over the news when she almost died? Thanks for all this info! I keep trying to piece everything together, but there's still much I don't know about her...

From what she told me when we met, she was having too much fun with cocaine to even think of quiting. And her career would've been more of acting than singing, since she also told me, she was trying to get away from that sex-kitten theme that people seen her as due to her music and also felt she would make more money acting.

Um no this came in the 90's this highlander episode.The other tv sitcom guest appearances came in the 80's round the time she was promoting undress/action jackson....
