I'm so over the Julia vs. Ellen controversy. It'd be one thing if Ellen had racked up all the other awards for "Requiem..." and Julia was then awarded the Oscar. However, that's not the case. Julia won the Golden Globe and numerous other awards for this role, the most telling being The Actor from the Screen Actors Guild. Actors, for those of you who are unaware, make up the largest body of Academy voters. This was not a rob by any means. Julia won. Deal with it.

Julia Roberts was great in Steel Magnolias--but since then has played the same part over and over and over again. Erin Brockovich plays like a bad episode of Barnaby Jones. Ellen deserved the Oscar--buts lets face it the Academy has been missing the mark for years by nominationg and awarding terrible actors/actresses and performances.

Ellen Burstyn's performance in Requiem for a Dream is one of the most riveting and raw performances an actor has ever given. This is one of the most unforgivable Oscar snubs in history!

Ellen Burstyn could read names out of the Kalamazoo phone book and it would be Oscar-worthy. One of the most talented actresses of the last forty years.
