But please consider that if Kennedy had taken offensive against the soviets at the time of the missle crisis, millions of Amercians surely would have been killed, and Kennedy, being the man he was, plotted a course of action which disarmed the soviets and also brought us to new state of peace. JFK talked the enemy down without ever using force. If you dont consider that courage, than you sir are a fool.

The missiles he removed from Turkey were obsolete Jupiter-class nuclear warheads that were scheduled for withdrawal in the first place. The "private assurance" deal (which is the one you're referring to) just changed the timeset that the warheads were going to be taken out of turkey by 18 months down to 6 months. Personally, I would rather lose however many obsolete warheads than have guaranteed nuclear annihilation, which without that settlement was virtually guaranteed.

Most of what you said is incorrect as was shown later by declassified info. Obsolete units would be upgraded not ALL missiles REMOVED, Kennedy stood down. Phrases like "Private assurance" or "lie to my electorate" none change Kennedy lying about stepping down, there was no "eyeball to eyeball" confrontation. His phrase "Private assurance" was worded like "withdraw with honour" as used in Vietnam to dress up the word "defeat". Just stating something, does not make it become fact.

I am not going to bother reading that book. Communism killed Kennedy, in the form of Lee Harvey Oswald acting ALONE. He was a commie. Sometimes the answer is right in front of you. You wasted your time on that book, dearie.
