A showroom stock Hemi would have its hands full with a likewise 1970 Stage 1. A stock 4 speed Hemi was chassis dyno'd recently by Mopar Muscle magazine and they got 315hp at the wheels. That's very close to what the Buick got at the wheels. With 17% driveline loss typical for a manual transmission car that's like 380 at the flywheel installed in the car. In the 60's engines were dyno'd out of the car with no accessories and a optimum exhaust system. Check out the article, numbers don't lie.

i searched for your article even though you linked it and still did not find it!
|
Then you're an idiot.
Others have found it and sent feedback to me.
1) Go to the POPULAR MECHANICS website (Google Popular Mechanics)
2) Type the following into the site's search window:
musclecars duke
The entire article will appear. Click the number "4" and you will see that very same Buick, with the owner admitting to (some of) the modifications.
In addition to the mods he admits to, his car also runs a TA performance "Hemi Killer" cam and a fully blueprinted and over-bored engine.

well i am waiting for that "supposed article" b/c my dad has a subscription to Popular Mechanics for the last 20 years or so. and why in the hell did you send me an unsolicitied message about the superiority of your Acura to an Olds or a Buick in the first place? LOSER!

I can't post links here.
I have sent you the article on multiple occasions.
Go to the Popular Mechanics Website.
In the search window type: "musclecars duke"
You will then see the link for the article. It features several "musclecars," including the MODIFIED Stage 1 featured in this post.

Obviously I met to say "port matched the heads" (with the intake and exhaust).
His engine is making about 80 HP more than it made when it was brand new - thanks to cylinder head work, an aftermarket cam, a true 11:1 CR, a modern exhuast system, various carb. and ignition tweaks, a full, NHRA style blueprinting job and heaven only knows what else.
It isn't stock and suggesting otherwise is flat out dishonest.
