If anyone likes Emily Watson i highly recommend checking out Breaking The Waves, she's amazing!

for me, Watson as Bess is one of the greatest performances i've ever felt. and i do mean 'felt.' it's so powerful it affects your body. i'd put Watson's performance in Breaking The Waves up there with Keitel in Bad Lietenant, Day Lewis in There Will be Blood, and Keaton in Annie Hall. she's that good. but putting a word on it like 'good' or 'great' feels wierd to me like it undercuts it's power somehow by naming it. it was too intense for some; walkouts. still: Bess is... good. (inside joke)

If you look close(or perhaps, stand way back), there is a strong popeye theme to this movie.
