An Open Letter to Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York City

Max well done. Due to personal reasons I was made homeless in New York, thank God it was during the Summer. To cut a very long story short I managed to get a job and get a ticket back to the UK in the nick of time. I am now staying in a hostel, working and slowly getting my life back together. The homeless community that I met in NY were lovely, however, the shelters were disgusting. Good luck with everything you do and please get back to me with any updates:0)

I like that you're willing to speak out about this, but I'm wondering - in that letter, did you actually 'ask' any questions? It seemed more like a statement letter.. And what's unconstitutional about ridding the homeless from the streets? They don't own property to have property rights. Again, I dig your work, but try to be more precise in your delivery. Keep it up!

GET F**K'N Real Dude.... You have to be strong survive the streets!!! Everyday they wake up alive they are winners. I was Homeless for 8+ Yrs., I was NOT a drunk or druggie, i was looking for real life outside the box, pure freedom. I have been off the streets for 6 Yrs., and I miss it everyday. I hope to write a book or do something creative thing having to do with my years on the street. Living on the street is hard work, it is real survival!!!

thanks, yeah she never responded and that particular strain of the issue died out, but I've been working on a feature film about homelessness in NY and it's almost done. I hope that maybe I can reopen this particular issue once that movie is finished, and see if I can illicit some sort of response. but, then again, this IS the New York City gov't were talking about here, I wouldn't expect any miracles.

I think it's really cool that you're trying to do something about this. Any update?
