Plasmis: In case you mean Hans "Hasse" Wind was the FAF's heighest scoring ace, then you are incorrect. Ilmari Juutilainen was.

Highest scoring FiAF BW ace, as the BW239 is the topic here.

A note to the author of this video: The Finns never called the B-239 "Buffaloes". They had all kind of nicknames for the aircraft in addition to the common name "Brewster". A few examples of these nicknames are as follows: "Pearl of the sky", "Butt-Walther", "Flying beer bottle", and so on. But the aircraft was NEVER called Buffalo in Finland.

Yep, and that is partly because the B239 was very far from the original Brewster Buffalo.

Hows the brewster buffalo compare to polikarpov 1-16? Its a bit better isnt it?

Quoting myself in another vid: "...the aircraft gained a victory vs loss ratio of over 26:1, the best in the world. The two highest scoring individual aircraft in the world were also B-239s." So not just a bit. :)

sweet vid

hell yea, most of my online kills are hurri's those guys are used to flying against 109's where turning for them means winning. I like to imagine the look of frustration on their faces when I am closing on them. In a fight against a Hurricane the 239 is holding *most* of the cards. BSS_AIJO

My point being, if we forget the problems with british aircraft engineering, we had a little war up north called the Winter war, followed by the Continuation war, then again followed by the Lapland war. Brits denied us help, then sent fighters to our enemies. The french sent help but they never arrived. Even p51 mustangs were sighted on the eastern front at the end of the war, even claimed shot down, by Me-109G 2:s though.

In all fairness Britain really didn't have much to send in 1940. We still had some fighter squadrons flying Gloster Gladiator Biplanes for Pete's sake. and after we got bitten off at the ankles trying to keep Germany out of Norway we didn't really have any way to get to Finland.
