Hey!!! THAT'S ME @ 2:07!!! I was in a Bible study with ST and Phil Madeira (who looks like Ben Franklin to my right). ST asked if I cd. dress like a priest and let my hair out. I've NEVER seen this till just now!

They were so good and are so gone I tear up thinking about it. I was blessed enough to see them and help them set up several times in Nashville in their short, brilliant heyday, and trust me: they were even better than this. I still have a cassette demo that Steve gave me. It had "Murder In The Big House," "Escher's World," and a searing track, "Tale 'O The Twister," that eventually ended up in the movie "Pump Up The Volume." Swore me off of record companies forever. MCA screwed them so bad.

You sing it Steve. I missed this the first time. I was a missionary in Africa, so didn't get to hear it.

Is Dave Perkins really your dad?

They are Christian? Hell! Its good music. No need to name the others...Long time locked in the closet.. LIVE!!! Jars Of Clay...Creed...Oh crap...I did. I would think as a people we are flesh and blood. No boundrys. When we set them- we separate ourselves from them. We are from the same God. Don't get me started on him...If music has a word let it be heard and not catagorized.

I don't think them being a Christian band bothered many. I mean, U2 has Christian members (not a Christian band though) and often imports their faith into their music, and they are considered "the greatest rock band of all time." But I guess it had an impact.

I think the thing that bothered many people was the fact that Steve Taylor lead the group - many in the Christian Right hated him.

We draw into our 'caves' and surround ourselves with our closest peers of thought, politics, race, class and praise our klan of likeness of being the chosen ones...Thinking, that we are the only chosen ones, because of the minors, over the major need.... That blood that paid the price for any and all who follow The Gospel.. We make it into our own comfort zone, entertainment, finance, relationships... "Get out of cave....Reach out to someone NOT LIKE YOU!" That's spreading the TRUTH and LOVE...

15 years with no new Steve Taylor music. I think it's about time to come out of retirement, Steve.
|
Agree! I saw Steve almost 6 years ago. It was a great concert! I really, really think he needs to come back and do it all over again. But I do understand why he kinda left the scene. So many people mainly Christians have given him a bunch of crap about his music. Too bad. But it's great that he's still doing things behind the scenes. He produces the Newsboys. But yea, let's get a petition going to have him come back!
