Just keep at it, blackburn. When you hit the gym, check your ego at the door, focus on weight you can handle w/good form, push yourself. I started weight/resistance training 10 mos. ago using principles similar to those outlined in this video proper diet. I've dropped 30# of fat I can crank out 4 sets of 6 pull ups w/perfect form mid-way thru my workout. 10 mos. ago, I couldn't do one.

good video

i tried chin ups today..i managed 3

well, then keep on training to get some strength ^^

Over all health is far more important then looking big. You feel like a million bucks and have tons of energy when your in shape.

They call that spirit

Interestingly however elite sprinters carry less body fat than elite marathon runners. One reason for this might be that HIIT primarily utilizes carbs (close to 100%) while ET utilzes carbs and fat. The body might actually retain a fat reserve when ET is the primary workout, burning muscle tissue instead as a fuel source. Most fat burning from HIIT takes place in next 24 to 36 hours. While the above is a speculation about why it may work there is no specualtion about what studies have shown.

Recent studies suggest that you'll be burning fat for 24 to 36 hours. It is paradoxical because you burn a much higher percentage of carbs than you would from doing lower intensity cardio. However as you suggest the magic happens at rest. It is also important that this kind of workout be intervalic. You body races to burn fat between the intervals increasing one's whole biochemical fat burning infrastructure. In short there is no single reason this is more effective, but more effective it is....

One study comparing High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) to Endurance training (ET)-- and this is a form of HIIT if the cardiovascular intensity is sufficient, as it seems to have been in the way you performed them in the video-- demonstrated that the former method burned as much as 9 times the calories of the later method.
