Awesome. Great piece of history. |
I remember this from when I was about 3 or 4 years old. Or maybe the follow-up to it, not real sure. I probably did not know what a Chevrolet was at that young age. But I definitely remember her singing this song on TV. |
Although Dinah drummed America, Apple Pie and Chevrolet throughout the 1950s, General Motors made certain she was always behind the wheel of a shiny new Cadillac as befitting a star of her magnitude and appeal. |
Yeah, I'm gonna bring my age up here as if anyone cared. I'm 22 and I'm part of the internet/technology generation but it doesn't speak for who I am or aspire to be as a person. I wish we had this innocence before drugs were in every household, rampant pornography readily available on your phone and people weren't short with each other. Punctuality, communication and care were taught to kids. Not that weren't bad stuff in that era but nowhere near as OUR bad stuff. Ms. Shore was a class act. |
I wonder what Dinah would think about Sirius sattelite radio, and GPA systems in her Chevrolet? |
Love it. |
Damn your ignorant |
I wish that I could go back to 1952, drive a Chevy and have a nice lady like Dinah Shore on my arm. Dinah probably even smells nice and she doesn't have any ugly tattoos either. I wish that we had the same optimism for the future and family values today that we had back then. No ipods, text messaging, cell phones, emails, dvd's, or computers to disrupt day to day living. People actually talked to each other with undivided attention and family was important. I love it when the power goes off! |
This commercial got Dinah Shore her first show, "The Dinah Shore Chevy Show" in 1953 |
What unbridled optimism and hope for the future. Hard to imagine now. |
Had to be the introductory spot for the 1953 Chevrolet line, which is pictured in the video. |
commercialism at it's best! |
Dinah - nothin' could be finer...
But you are such a whiner!!!!
Hold on to your hats rednecks - if only the Ruskies had got here in 53
See the USA in your T34.... |
Buick was much better. |
That's the song alright!!!! LOL!!!! This is precious!!!! Thank you so much for posting!!! |
Short reprise version by chorus featured at the end of "The Way You Want It". |
What memories. My college car was a 4 year-old Bel Air convertible like the one pictured. WOW! |

they revived parts of this commercial in the binghamton area lol |
notice how nice it looked without all the smog... |
I guess she kissed it goodby. How Sad. |
This ad is fabulous - the nelody, music, and HER DRESS omg. Love the chiffon cape... |

It's no wonder Burt Reynolds fell in love with her! |
