it's a bet you likely would have lost. the turk, at least the real figurine this is inspired by, rarely lost a game even against some of the greatest minds in europe. even those who actually won described "him" as an extremely tough opponent. and for the record, yes the turk would sometimes knock the pieces off the board if a player made an illegal move or it would move the piece back and move its own, forfeiting the players turn. it was quite temperamental by all accounts
