You wanna talk about corruption? The KMT was just as corrupt then as the CCP is now, at least with the CCP, there was some honesty and decency, but those days are over for now.

chromelemon 1. how does the CCP have decency? You call Cultural Revolution decency, deceny got thrown out the window during the great leap when millions of people starved to death. 2. even if the KMT was corrupt, that was due to the situation when they took power from the warlords and then immediately fighting japan. quit listening to CCP excuses.

Dude, do you even know why Mao pushed forward the Cultural Revolution? It was to battle corruption. Even Mao admitted it got out of hand, but the intent was to remove corrupt CCP officalis from thier posts, which is in need of a good cleaning now. What does the situation of the KMT have to do with excusing thier corruption? They had more money than the CCP but during the fight with Japan the CCP was not corrupt. You accuse me of using excuses when you are making up excuses for the KMT.

Mao just wanted to use the cultural revolution to stay in power, I don't give a care what you say, totally inexcusable to cause so much to the people and the country.

"I don't care what you say" no offense, but that sounds like something an 8 year old might say when confronted with evidence that Santa Claus does not exist. I know the Culural Revolution had it's bad parts, ALL revolutions do. If revolution was easy and peaceful then there would be so suffering because change would not be hard to attain, but unfortunatly, struggle and sometime sviolence is needed to defend accomplishments.

chromelemon Why did we need another revolution when it was time to rebuild a nation? because mao wanted a continued revolution to solidify his power base while millions of people were affected for 10 years. It was the most useless shit in history to the country ever. Plus you never mentioned the great leap, what was that all about again??? but other than that go get a dose of reality and until then don't bother to respond.

Why did China need a revolution? Because millions of Chinese did not want to see a bourgious pseudo-democracy like that of what would become Taiwan under Chaing. You claim it was the most useless shit, but there are thousand who's lives were improved who would disagree with you. The great leap had MANY flaws, but there were also positve aspects, for example China's steel productions skyrocketed thus giving the country the ability to buy and sell and make China the giant it is now.

chromelemon you on dope man?? the steel produced was second rate, at the cost of millions of people's lives from the famine that followed. hmmm...millions of lives or tons of steel. you said thousands who's lives were improved from the cultural revolution. hmmm...."thousands of lives improved" or millions of people killed, country set back for decades and thousands of years of cultural relics destroyed. you do the math.

2. Ill tell you what situation the KMT faced. once the Republic was established in 1911, corrupt warlords controlled most of china. It was not the KMT's fault, but it was to their credit that they launched the northern expedition and eradicated the warlords. almost immediately after that, the KMT had to fight japan, right after that was the civil war. It takes time to build a country and the KMT did not have a moment of peace ever since the establishment of the Republic.

Neither did the CCP, the KMT launched and admirable strike against the warlords, but eventually the more corrupt officals from the KMT worked WITH the warlords. The CCP was by no means perfect, but at least the fought against the warlords and still were not corrupt.
