Great white shark feeding at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Go behind-the-scenes with Aquarist Freya Smith to see how we fed the young male white shark that was on exhibit until February 2008 before he was successfully returned to the wild. You can track his progress at http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/whiteshark, and learn more about our White Shark Research Project.

the shark is cool but the girl is annoying
I though great whites were big! that one wasnt big! why wasnt it big?
It was an infant shark, I went to see twice, the first time when they first got it, it was only about 4 ft, then I went agin 2 months later and it was 6 ft, wich was pretty intimidating. But it was so cool to see one so close.
It's a juvenile. There isn't enough space in the tank for an adult.
Is Monteray Bay Aquarium the only aquarium in the world to have great whites?
The only one to keep them for as long as they did, avereaged about 7 months for both without them dying, every where else the couldn't keep them longer than a month. They had to get rid of them because a) they got pretty big and still wanted to be able to move it, b) the first one started eating it's tank mates. But still very cool stuff, by far the best aquarium I have ever been to, and I will be a member till a die, then they get most of my money to help save the oceans.
Yes, only place to keep one for more than 16 days, to get it to feed, and to document a successful return to the wild. Three times so far, since 2004.
Do you feed the shark with different fish for example tuna
they were feeding them salmon fillets, tuna might have made 'em feel a little to warm towards the huge tuna in the tank...
