Queen Elizabeth II in the Cocos Islands

Video Title : Queen Elizabeth II in the Cocos Islands

hmmm, this island looked like lived by indonesian as I noticedmany of them man wore kopiah (head cover for man) and sarong, and the laies wore batik saroong...I am convinced they were indonesian decendent as the dutch flag as evidence.

The Cocos Islands are actually populated by Malaysian Decendants, many of them were given the right to live and work on the Island to farm coconuts. Under the Old Empire as Malaya was British turf and so was Australia, these Malayans were given settlement. The Island is actually part of Western Australia but has its own local government. It is an island which sadly as this island is full of muslims, you will be in trouble for offending them in almost any way, as with all muslims.

Wonderful!

cocos islands, is that anywhere near the maldives, bangladesh, around the indian ocean?

i just love videos of the young queen...

God bless the Queen. Long may she rule over us!!!

Mind if I share? She wasn't titled HRH in 1954, she was already Queen, therefore, her title should be HM Elizabeth II

This is very rare footage from The Queen's 1953-54 world tour of the Commonwealth. She started by flying from London to Bermuda and Jamaica where she boarded the Gothic which carried the Queen & Prince Philip to New Zealand and Australia via the Panama Canal, Tonga and Fiji. This wonderful piece of film shows the Queen stopping off on the homeward voyage from Australia to Malta where the brand new Royal Yacht Britannia was waiting to convey the Queen & Prince Philip home to London via Gibraltar.

oh ,how beautiful she was

Great footage - thanks for sharing casper! As a side note, it should be "Her Majesty" Queen Elizabeth II, not "Her Royal Highness". The latter is a style given only to princes and princesses in the British Monarchy.
