The problem with the relaunch was that they did it all wrong. They did not stick close enough to the original cartoon series, the toys were too gross looking, the original toys were much more anatomically correct, and the marketing was all wrong. The series was on cable rather than commercial television. Few people even knew about it. And the animation was off. It did not look American it looked Japanese. It sucked and so did the new series.

You speak the absolute truth. It was nothing like the original. It was a sad generic version of crud. The original will always be the best. The 80s show is what made it's mark on the culture.

This attempted relaunch merely stoked nostalgia for people like myself that grew up watching the original series and collecting the associated toys in the mid '80s. Today's children ignored this. You can't manufacture interest.

I have been looking for the New MOTU series on DVD, but couldn't find it. Is it even available on DVD yet?

no not yet..but u can download it online through torrents..or i think it was also on youtube some time ago..
They shouldnt have cancelled it..it was a reallllllly good show

Actually, the relaunch series has just been released on DVD, and you should find it now at your local Best Buy.
