Dassault Mirage 4000

Video Title : Dassault Mirage 4000
Description : The Mirage 4000 was a prototype jet fighter developed by Dassault-Breguet as a twin engine version of their Mirage 2000. Both planes have much in common, including their engines (SNECMA M53-2), their Delta shape wings and their semi-circular air intake. The plane first flew in 1979. It was financed as a private venture by Dassault, possibly with Saudi Arabian money. The Mirage 4000 was comparable in size to the United States F-15 Eagle, and would have made an excellent long-range interceptor. Its weight and ordnance capacity also would have made it a very good fighter-bomber. In the early 1980s Dassault ended the program shortly after the Saudis chose the F-15C as their preferred aircraft. The French Air Force preferred to concentrate on the Mirage 2000, leaving Dassault with no customers. Some of the expertise thus gained would later influence the Dassault Rafale, but the only prototype moved to its final residence at the Paris Air & Space Museum in 1995.General characteristics * Crew: 1 * Length: 18.70 m (61 ft 4 in) * Wingspan: 12.00 m (39 ft 4 in) * Height: 5.80 m (19 ft 0 in) * Wing area: 73.0 m² (785 ft²) * Empty weight: 13,000 kg (29,000 lb) * Powerplant: 2× SNECMA M53-2 afterburning turbofans, 83 kN (19,000 lbf) each Performance * Maximum speed: 2,445 km/h (1,320 knots, 1,519 mph) * Range: 2,000 km (1,100 nm, 1,200 mi) * Service ceiling: 20,000 m (66,000 ft)

Is the super mirage 4000 operational or never was?

Never was, only remained a single prototype

In Al-Mansourah battle, the EAF achieved a disastrous victory against the IAF which tried to regain supremacy by destroying the core center of the airfields net in the delta to enable it to attack the Egyptian ground forces. the IAF lost more than three times the loses of the EAF in that battle, and Israel loses it's final hope to regain the ultimate air supremacy.

Following a more detailed analysis after the war had ended, the EAF actually increased its original claims and now asserts that the results of the el-Mansourah air battle were as follows: 17 Israeli aircraft confirmed shot down for the loss of six MiGs. Of the EAF aircraft lost, three were shot down by the enemy, two crashed because they ran out of fuel before their pilots could return to base and a third blew up after flying through the debris of an exploding Phantom which it had just shot down

that was wikipedia that i still dont trust ;)

That means that the USA, had stop supporting electronic warfare, the IAF.

the IAF did not operate freely and did not have the air supremacy like the previous conflict, the 1967 war. Egyptian MiGs were used with their better maneuverability that most IAF air crafts in that war to conduct new tactics and lessons learned from the 1967 war.

It looks like nowaday's Rafales. It's faster than Rafales, but it's not certain that 4000s had better avionics than Rafales.

Eww, the 4000 is like a bomber, not a multi role plan man.

No mirage 400 was ever selled.Just one was produced and is in a french museum today.
