To Nancy Pelosi on ENDA GLBT

"We all kind of knew but we didn't say anything because you just love people, right, and you love them for who they are as a person." I wish everyone had that mindset. People are quick to reveal something about a person when they're not ready for it. People need time to deal with what they're afraid of, and they're entitled to it. Not everyone is respectful enough to give someone that. I'm glad you had the kind of love for your friend to give him that respect. acceptance. -Annie

Cont. - In most cases typecasting & criticisms are a cry out to find & define their own beliefs. When you look into the def. of diverse individualism it would be oxymoronic to include typecasting as part of this endeavor. Who defines ordinary? Being diverse doesn't divide us it brings us together. As Stephen Biko once said, "the most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed." So, good for u for not arming them with the tools they need to oppress, your mind!

Pt. 1 - Made me cry. There is a lesson in this message, TOLERANCE. I find that the more people I meet in the GLBT community the more tolerance, humanity & acceptance I see. You are the masters and we the students, in which I think the problem begins; that is admitting they are novice at something = ignorance which then translates to their intolerance. There are many out there who criticize, some w/ great pleasure (i.e. Fred Phelps).

Hi Dars... I think growing up the way we have tends to make us more likely to be compassionate and accepting if for no other reason than we know how it is to be seen as less than human. However, I have also seen many instances where people like us are not tolerant or accepting of differences in others... my overall take on this is that discrimination is probably more a function of how much one accepts themselves... how secure they are in themselves.

Gosh that seems soooo wrong losing your job over just being who you are. I couldnt imagine going through that and finally having a surgery and then you do and BAM you get fired and cant work either...what a bitch! Keep your head up and keep going ,your a wonderful person whatever you are...and if the world or a employer cant except we'll their loss!

Its always sad to to me, how we like to point at others percieved social misgivings to make ourselves feel better. I am a christian, and I don't hate you. As far as I know jesus always went to the socially unwanted people, to help them, be kind to them, and loved them. We all could learn a lot from that. I am glad you don't hate. But I hope you don't think all christians hate you or who you are.I hope you feel better mentally and physically. You are a beautiful person. stay strong.

Why do they oppose the T in GLBT? It is ironic that a bill on non-discrimination is discriminating against a particular gender minority and from some sections of the GLB community. Some GLBs are afraid of associating with the Trans community, you see Trans really scares straight people, much more so than gay. Gay is barely tolerated in the workplace, tolerated as in a comment I once heard "this place is full of queers". Now that sure sounds like tolerance and acceptance :)

That's true, Darlie. I suppose it is while being patient that efforts can be made to allow life (and people) to be a little more enjoyable and forgiving.
