B1 took the form of a virus more or less here, once a virus takes hold of any computer it almost instantly begins to damage a computer, ofte before the anti virus can kick in. The anti-virus can also only cope with stuff it knows how to deal with already (usually means it needs to have come across it once before). B5's systems, though much more advanced have never come across B1 before. Think of it as like Windows, which though is an advance OS it an be taken down by simple virus itself.
I think it's really cool that Shrinking Violet has a growing power in this episode because they are in a miniture city, I hope she has fun with it while it lasts!
Two issues I have with this episode:
1. You would think Brainiac 5 would be smarter and more advanced than brainiac 1 on roughly the same level a super computer is better than an abacus. How could he fall for any trick B1 tries to pull?
2. The map is a picture of the temple?
