Theres an Opel Senator in my neighbourhood for sale - I think I will have a good look at it now!!!

Other way around! (Senator came out in 1987, Commodore VN in 1988) - I did once see a VN Commodore and an Opel Senator parked near to each other - wheel arches and front and rear treatments aside - from the side they looked incredibly similar, to the point where I could help but think that some panels (doors and glass) looked interchangable!...

It is an Omega A!!! - but the Holden Commodore is almost identical, all the same car really - I have the English version - Vauxhall Senator. 93 3.0i 24v

The VN Commodore was incredibly similar (unique front and rear aside) - essentially it was a mix of the Opel/Vauxhall Senator (much of the sedan bodywork) and Omega (particularly the rear wheel arches - due to the Commodore also having a wagon variant), and the underpinnings of the previous Commodores (which were literally a mix of Senator front and Rekord rear)...
