Maybe he (the retired mechanic, in 1994) said that the 1949 DeSoto was the heaviest?

Hey this is in like Panavision or something. Now was the 1959 DeSoto the heaviest production car? I once heard a retired mechanic say that, I thought.
I say that the 1970 Cadillac (GVWR 4800#) and the 1973 Mercury Monterey (5175#?)are the heaviest I know of (ignoring SUVs).

These old car ads are great. But unfortunately for some reason with these Desoto ads the picture shrinks horizontally when I view them now. wth??
|
This commercial doesn't lie at all, I love my De soto!
|
gee chuck lets go and kill some wildlife!
|
the smart way to go places indeed.

Both the DeSoto and Fargo nameplates are used by the Turkish motor company Askam Kamyon Imalat, which has no business or technical ties to Chrysler. Both names are used for heavy trucks.
|
so that has no relavance to this video then...

I was commenting on the fact that while DeSoto was discontinued, the name still lives in the form of a truck company. Still, back in the 1950's, DeSoto nameplates were put on Dodge trucks for foreign sales.
