I am looking for a new SUV and I would like to know the true benefits of the GL550 vs. the GL450, excluding the styling of the GL550. I have heard that with everything that the GL550 has, the GL450 comes very close to that $75,000 that the GL550 is. I am also considering the R350, X5 4.8, or the Lexus GX.

GL500 is for the car lovers. With so much power its almost sports like. day to day, 450 will do. Both GLs are better than the Lexus and BMW. The BMW would come close but it isn't in the ballpark of the GL.

bmw doesn't have a full-size suv yet, how could you compare?

thats why i said it isnt in the ballpark of the GL. The GL is a Gran Luxury SUV, and the X5 is a Mid size Suv compared with an ML

I prefer the CDI verison of this SUV but if you need big power along with your big suv then more power to you

bought a gl550 last month and I will tell you dat I enjoy driving my 2006 range rover than driving this.. its just a better SUV overall.. also I am having bad luc wid this vehicle- backed into a concrete pillar - cracked drivers headlamp- yeah I konw I cant blame mercedes- ITS MY WIFE... shit I hope she does not read this...ha

GL550 man, it has more torque, look at the lx570's styling it's incredibly ugly!, its basically a toyota!, this is the s-class of all the suv. plz gl550
