Swissair A330 Engine Failure....CAUGHT ON TAPE

Video Title : Swissair A330 Engine Failure....CAUGHT ON TAPE
Description : The Airbus A330 is a large-capacity, wide-body, medium-to-long-range commercial passenger airliner. It was developed at the same time as the four-engined Airbus A340, and will likely be replaced by the Airbus A350. Airbus intended the A330 to compete directly in the ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operation Performance Standards) market, specifically with the Boeing 767. The A330's fuselage and wings are virtually identical to those of the smaller A340 variants, although it has different engines. The A330 basic fuselage design is inherited from the Airbus A300, as is the nose/cockpit section and the fly-by-wire system and flightdeck from the A320. Both the A330 and A340 are assembled on the same final assembly line at Toulouse-Blagnac, France. By the end of February 2008, a total of 895 A330s had been ordered and 526 delivered. There are two main variants of the A330. The A330-300 was launched in 1987 with introduction into service in 1993. The A330-200 was launched in 1995, introduced in 1998 and comes in passenger, freighter and tanker versions. IN THIS VIDEO, a few seconds after take-off from Zurich airport (in 2001), the left engine of this A330 flames out. This phenomenon happens when the fuel combustion can not be realised inside the engine (lack of oxygen, water ingestion ...). The engine can shut down and must be restarted in flight.

Comments :

birds would be considered FOD (foreign object debris)

this happens when the pressure in the combustion section exceeds the pressure of the air traveling threw the compressor/ compressor scroll. usually because the compressor speed (N1)is too slow or there was debris sucked into the engine

birds can cause that too

Yeah, I've seen that too

flight simulatorrrrrrrrrrrrr

Yeah, why not take the train and get there in 2 days, rather than 3 hours on the plane? Lol...

This is a Compressor Stall, I saw this Happen At birmingham Airport Last year, a BMI Baby 737-300 had some sort of engine back fire on departure.
