Yea, but hip-hop isn't going to make you dodge bullets either. Hip-hop won't stop a bullet or get rid of your addictions, but it does help you get through it. Chess can get you out of the hood the same way as hip-hop, by coming up and making yourself more than what you were. It takes a lot of talent to rise up with either.
