what many people dont know is , that just a few hours before ,FDR held that speach , he had a mild heart attack and was close to die (the speach is held on 20 july 1944, that same day some german army officers tries to kill hitler with a bomb )....He was wey ill at the time and that why , tats why he looks so old and tierd at this clip .... he died nine months later at april 12 1945 age 63 .... Rest in peace Mr.Roosevelt , you were a great prisident

what exactly are you saying? do you know? what is a communist? did his policies have socialist tendencies? yes. did they prove pivotal to helping the nation out of the depression? yes. there was the man and his actions which were great, what calling him a communist do? is that supposed to be an insult?

im not against roosevelt by any means, but this is a freakin scary looking man. He has these eyes of darkness and power...

What kind of an accent did Roosevelt have? He was from New York, right? This doesn't sound like the New York accents of today.

People's accents in general were very different back in those days. Listen to old speeches of Theodore Roosevelt or William McKinley. I'm pretty sure FDR just had a New York accent from the 1930's-40's

New Englanders still had a strong trace of the English accent from independence in 1783 until the 1940s. After the war, the accent started going away. See Robert MacNeil's Story of American English.
