The games are weak and the UI is ugly as sin. So what is the porpose of running Linux on your iPod? Better integration with your Linux desktop? I know iTunes for Linux does not exist, so I guess you would be using... Songbird?
Yeah, freakin' AutoCad... of all the stubborn Windows-only apps, this is the most infamous. Personally, I want it for Mac.
does this work on either my 4th gen iPod nano 16GB product red or on my iPod classic 1st gen 80 GB?
I really like linux as an operative system, I use Ubuntu. but the thing is that I still need to get back to windows almost all the time to use Autocad and some specialized software that only comes with a wobbly colorful shitty window in the box.
That and the new evil docx format everyone I work with uses now.

you try running 3d desktop effects like compiz without frying the CPU, here in linux world we can use the GPU.
Ha you think windows makes no use of the GPU? Linux runs games slower, its graphics system is shit, it couldn't even run that 3D tux game on my highest spec machine while windows could play COD4. All the desktop effects in the world won't save that OS. A few years ago no linux user would be offended by the prospect of desktop effects

well on my mac mini, i have 2gbs of ram, but right now i have 4 windows of safari with 18 tabs open, 2 versions of msn (adium and Microsoft messenger) and itunes running and i have 350mb of ram being used (baring in mind the graphics card uses roughly 60)
i believe that. mac and its programs aren't very resource demanding, but, having 18 tabs on 4 windows doesn't say much because they could either be all of the same thing or just really simple websites.
i am not a fan on apple but i can say they make a much more stable and resource efficient os than microsoft
yeah i get what you mean with the tabs,18 windows of youtube, facebook and email (with flash adverts)
but os x is defiantly more efficient and stable than windows.
me saying that could start the whole pc/mac argument, the reason its so stable is because its used by less people so virus makers dont see the point in making mac viruses (which are harder to make a spread) when theres only going to be a small impact.
sort of, mac, linux, or anything unix based also just has better built-in secuirty features. if mac and/or linux were the most popular, there would be many more viruses but i strongly believe that they still wouldn't need antivirus programs
