You're right, it is a wanna-be. I mean it can't match the unreliability of the mercedes and can't get the technology level of that of the Renaissance era. And cut back about 20 HPs... and ya then it can be your C350

World of difference between a 6 speed and auto. If you're considering this car, be sure to drive both. I have an '05 and look forward to driving it everyday. Took it out on a racetrack, Thunderhill, and forgot it was FWD. My instructor was impressed with the car, as a passenger.
