The greatest sound in the world is that of a roll-royce merlin engine. Too see and hear these legends at airshows is an incredible experience. The spitfire and hurricane, both equipped with merlin engines, are just as amazing. I have seen a messerschmit, B-17, and many more oldies fly, but none come close to the beauty (both audio and visual) of the battle of britain memorial flight.

I had an Uncle that survived flying these. I never knew until after his death what it was all about. The odds of returning. The pressing of that drop button. Wow, I wish I had him back to ask and record the history. VOTE PEOPLE! If not for the candidate for the people that made it possible.

A truly gorgeous aircraft, with an even more gorgeous soundtrack. Possibly the best noise in the world ever.

I use to live near northolt, this woud be the highlight of a year. I would sit outside the airfield on an electrical box and look over the fence, until the MOD chucked us off!

One flew low like that over our house when I was a kid. The most wonderful sight and sound. I just love them.
