I wouldn't have belived it possible, I wonder why they didn't actually use this system?

can an air bus park on this pad??

Nah, knowing Airbus, somthing will go wrong.

R-R-R-Right !! Didn't do that great a job pal. Most famous aircraft from Vietnam has to be the Hueys airlifting the Yanks outta there fast while the Vietnamese tanks were knocking down the front door of the US Embassy. And the perfectly good multi million dollar Hueys being dumped overboard into the ocean to make room for more fleeing Yanks..... But yes, C130 IS truly a great aircraft.
C130 is a great aircraft. They were used in Vietnam as gunships. They removed the side door and did a excellent job.
i agree
That's the AC-130. And it's still in use today!
incorrect, today the airforce uses the C-130U spooky model they retired the AC-130 spectre in late 2001
AC-130U
I was aware that the AC-130 configuration that was used in Vietnam isn't used today, but an aircraft based on the C-130 which fires heavy weapons out of its side and is named AC-130 is in use. That's all I meant

the C130 is definately one of few cargo planes that could successfully suited for carrier ops, it carries a lartge load at low speeds and doesnt require much landing space, its landing gear can take a lot of abuse too, the C130 also holds well enough in water thats its safe to splash land (the plane wont make it though)
