17.3.2007 - Starboard engine start, a wing fold and various system tests on one of the preserved Blackburn Buccaneers based at Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome, Leicestershire, UK. More information and photos for this restored Buccaneer here: http://www.buccsociety.com/index.htm
Did the Bucc not carry the TIALD pod and splash the targets for the Tornados to hit with the GBu 123's? Or was it the other way round?
yeh u got it right there lol. went there today and got a seat in the back with an engiene run lol bit windy though
Roy Boot created the Blackburn Buccaneer. :) Nice tidbit.
These aircraft are amazingly small when you see them in the metal. Big payload and low-level operation though. Did the Buccaneer ever see active service?
They needed to be compact as possible for their original naval role on aircraft carriers.
The last active service role of the Bucc was in the first Gulf War when they were used with laser guided missiles that Tornados were not equipped to carry.
