I'm veering off course yet again. I find it hard to stay on track writing these reviews when I can't stop thinking of crazy contestant antics. I mean, a finalist can sing well and I could simply write a review around vocal technicalities. But when the contestants performances are like clockwork (cute but not-the-best), I know what to expect. She wasn't the best singer, so I could expect 'adequate' song choices and good times. I wasn't surprised with the mediocre reviews; she wasn't going to 'magically' just start getting better. But Kellie's personality was floopy and it was her unplanned commentary that was the star. What she said before and after singing is what we remembered. 'Calamari' and 'Minc!!' This night went off a hell of a lot better than what (I thought) was a poor start in the Top 24. But that's not what we cared about. I'm sure the singing may have been a 'small' part of the Pickler charm, but we were always hoping for another course of the 'Calamari.'
