The Electric Company - The Corner

It may not have helped you, but a lot of kids (and adults)might disagree.

This is inane. I don't see any educational value in the program (it certainly didn't hep me learn to read when I was a kid). I think the network just needed another low-budget kiddie show to fill an afternoon time-slot. They're bringing the show back, and they're going to film in my neighborhood, the UPPER WEST SIDE. Thanks to channel 13, my neighborhood will now be associated with stupidity.

It was probably safer then than today.

If those were my kids, I wouldn't let them roam on ANY corner in 1973 New York, even if the Electric Company were next door!

Melanie was in the Michael Douglas movie "Disclosure". If they ever come out with a Vol. 3 Best of the Electric Company I hope they have their appearance on Carson. They'll probably have to ask NBC permission for that clip.

She's a member of at least one of the online EC fan forums, and she does interviews from time to time. She did an interview on Southern California public radio last year along with June Angela (now a sometime Broadway actress with an extensive voiceover career) and Steve Gustafson (works with Disney).

Interestingly I found out Melanie appeared on the Tonight Show (Johnny Carson) twice before she went on EC. I suppose if any videos exist of here appearnces, their probably locked away in the NBC vault.:P

Really...interesting. I think she was in the cast of "The Me Nobody Knows" just before EC, so perhaps it had to do with that, or perhaps it was something in connection with her father. At any rate, that would be interesting to see.
