What is this, a conspiracy, Goddamn everybody the wright brothers are the true inventores of the airplane, so quit posting comments about how invented the airplane. IT was the wright brothers. Them, only them. And them alone. Nobody else.

The REAL airplane inventor was ALBERTO SANTOS DUMONT, a brazilian guy that flight across paris in 1906 with a MOTORIZED airplane (14 bis). Wrigth brothers... tell me a joke!

aritanahta-"flew across Paris"..I'd hardly callit that. It was more like a momentary hop. His machine had very limited control, but since the Wright had yet gone public, people felt that this was the best man could do. By 1906 the Wrights could fly much further and longer in comparison, opinion soon changed in 1908.

The first flight was in fact made in 1902 in New Zealand by a 25 year old inventor known as Richard Pearse on Mar 31st. The distance was reported to be 350 yards. A replica of his aircraft and other stuff is on display at MOTAT in New Zealand.

farric-You say this even though Pearse himself dismisses the claim. The supposed uncontrolled "flight" ended with with a crash. This is the machine with the non cambered wing?
