i don't like feeding live rats to my corn snake cuz she gets a litle agressive, and i don't want her to be used to strike...she never gave me a bite, and i hope she never will...

i'm so excited, im gettin a 5yr old corn snake next week. question, if the snake is used to eating frozen mice, will it have any problems with a life one?

My snakes were fed rats and mice I bought and killed. I saw what damage a rat did to one snakes head.... I also noticed my snakes didn't tend to strike as much as they were used to being handled.

i was always told live feedings can cause injury to the snake, and it wasn't a good idea to practice. in fact cant you not do it in the U.K.? i'd go pre-killed, and if they dont eat it warm it up or brain it (bit gross, that process)

live isnt dangerous to eat its just bad cause the food defends itself. some people stun the food before they feed the snake

aaa ive always kind of wanted a corn snake.... o wow 78859 videos?

I'm looking to get a corn snake next week and i was wondering if (seeing as the snake I'm going to get is already accustomed to eating pinkies) will it know what to do if I were to feed it live? Or is it just gonna be confused?

yes it will know exactly what to do with it....it will actually constrict it also...they dont really constrict pre killed...at least mine doesnt and all the videos ive seen they only constrict to live...hope i helped

I feed my corn snake pre-killed mice. But i have to warm them up in warm water before i give them to him or else he wont eat it. And also, he wont coil his prey, he tried to do it once, but its like he didn't know what he was doing, gave up, and then ate. Anyone know if this is at all normal for a snake, or is he just weird? lol

yes, this is quite normal, different snakes all have different ways of feeding, my hatchling requires me to jiggle the dead mouse infront of it for it to feed, it has only ever constricted once. Captive bred snakes can often give up on the wild instincts when they realise it is all a waste of time, and that they are having it all done for them
