the rallying version of lancer is very highly tuned lancer designed for rallying. It has 2.0 liter engine but way more powerful engine than the lancer evolution. Lancer Evolution is made so that people can buy it and enjoy it on public roads, but it still can run like the rallying car because it has the options for tarmac, gravel, and snow. So lancer evolution is pretty much downgraded version of the rallying version of Mitsubishi Lancer.

the wrc rally car is an awd lancer. the Evo is called the lancer evolution. its essentially the rally car built for the road
the cars are very similar. dont let the name fool you

lancer wrc is built based on lancer sedan, not an evo though it has 4g63.
