C-17 Globemaster III Landing at Avalon 2007

Video Title : C-17 Globemaster III Landing at Avalon 2007
Description : This is the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III landing at the Australian International Airshow, 2007 at Avalon Airport. This video demonstrates the amazingly short landing distance of the C-17 (less than 600m) which makes this aircraft a valuable addition to any Air Force. The Globemaster is among the few modern aircraft capable of reverse thrust. This is the ability of the aircraft to reverse the airflow of its four turbofan engines (each providing 180kN of thrust) to slow the plane very quickly on the ground as well as in the air. Reverse thrust as well as the use of the aircraft's flaps gives the plane the ability to slow very quickly and perform high-rate descents, again giving the force using them a huge tactical advantage. The C-17 aircraft in the video is owned by the USAF, the RAAF currently owns one (which was on the tarmac and open to the public at the airshow), with two more to arrive in 2007 and another in 2008.

very short landing

how much reverse thrust has it got

too much for me to remember off hand but it's upwards of around 90 percent of thrust is put into reverse there. i know i'm a loadmaster in that planes particular squadron in hawaii.

Looks it's Markus Ruhls personal plane, only one big enough for his giant arms.

wot a short landing

What a plane!!
