KMT Legislator John Chiang thundered "Do you miss CKS?"
Description :
On March 12, 2007, in the Legislature Yuan of Taiwan, KMT Party Legislator John Chiang (蔣孝嚴) thundered "Do you (General Lee Jye, the Minister of National Defense of Taiwan) miss (my grandfather) old Chiang Kai-shek?" This questioning certainly had nothing to do with Taiwan national defense. Chiang may as well question "Do you miss all my ancestors?"
Actually, General Lee rebutted "No one even care to miss Dr. Sun Yat-Sen (the founder of ROC) today!" While Legislator John Chiang hesitated, Lee continued "Do you (John Chiang) know what day is today?" Chiang still hesitated. Lee said "Today is Dr. Sun's birthday!" Legislator Chiang still did not get it and became confused. Then, Lee said "Oops! NO! Today is his (82th) death anniversary." Chiang was silenced at last.
KMT party actually expelled Defense Minister Lee from that party earlier, saying that he had damaged the party's name and disrespected former KMT leader Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek by agreeing to remove Chiang's name and statues from all military grounds on Taiwan.
It is estimated that there exist more than 45000 Chiang Kai-Shek's statues on Formosa island - more than one statue per square kilometer.
To camusjoy: The people of Taiwan are Homo sapiens. If you think you are of something different, perhaps you should check your DNA first!
Your abominable comments here only show that you are not even civilized!
camusjoy, Chinese characters were not created by commi, but distorted by commi. learn to speak human language, don't bark.
In Taiwan, all historical relics, eg. the statues of Chiang Kai-shek and the scripture "Da zhong zhi zheng" (大中至正), are part of the history of Taiwan. Yes, Chiang and his son may be absolute rulers, but we must remember that both of them, along with KMT, had made reforms on land, education, economy, and administration and maintained law and order to society. They may not be qualified to be honored, but at least they shouldn't be dishonored even because of a minor blunder.
To crazyball8e: Taiwan would have been much more advanced/democratized and better off than today if CKS and his corruptive KMT cohorts had chosen the other place to run for their lives! We Taiwanese know how to govern our own land by ourselves.
Dartoolee, I 100% agree! Look at Japanese brand, Japanese technology, Japanese economic, and so on (world's 2nd largest economic), Taiwanese would have done the same thing for ourselves! Plus, we have many well-educated Taiwanese in the West, which continue to bring back American and European advanced technology and process as we come back to Taiwan!
To crazyball8e: A minor blunder?! No Homo sapiens has the right to kill others just because he wants to gain the dictatorship for his superiority and survival! Should your logic be sustainable, CKS' cohorts could first kill you and then rightfully govern your survivors nicely, your family still had to worship him!
Former President Park Chung Hee deserves to be remembered because he brought prosperity to his people. But this is NOT the case with CKS. And Taiwan is a FREE,INDEPENDENT and SOVEREIGN country of the Taiwanese people.
To date, it still remains as a mystery regarding the sudden death of John Chiang's mother. John Chiang might as well spend more efforts to uncover that mystery, rather than asking Taiwan people whether they miss CKS!
some ppl just has the habit of turning a blind eye to the true history.
to those who behave like the illiterate(or the KMT "posers" ), i'm gonna save my breath instead of reeducating them again and again.
xx peace out
