does this follow on from the story of the PS2 FF12? it just seems completely different. whats it about?

It's a sequel to the PS2 game. It takes place one year (kind of, I don't remember) or so after the previous one.

is it true u can be squad leder and have people in the squad

yeah. except there are multiple squad leaders (5) and the people are espers are you can have 5 different types of espers in a battle, and 8 espers per squad
