It points out that the U.S. withdrawal from Somalia by the order of president Clinton could be assessed as controversial - We had casulties but we did a lot of good and improved the situation in Somalia and have not finished our mission. Whatsmore Somalia was again thrown into chaos and stil remains a country without a legitimate government even now. It also boosted morale of terorists and anti-american powers later operating from Somalia on activities like Kenya embassy bombing or USS Cole attack. It also influenced the 9/11 terrorists. Politics always screw things up.

Somalia is one of the best examples of that ever.

I guess it's a case of "the other mans grass is greener". They gave up the chains of communism only to find that the American way of life is worse.......Irony?

What are you talking about?

Though no longer a communist state, Russia still has a strong socialist propensity. In the modern day, Russia has begun to mimic the worst trends that afflict the west. Most notable is the russian love affair with American culture. This, coupled with the hangovers from communism, has led to what hard liners are calling the "degeneration" of russian youth. A backlash is beginning to form in russian cities which may see a return to the percieved stability of the communist era.

With regard to the Russian "bad boys".... I've worked with Russian forces. The cohesion demonstrated during WWII was the result of many factors, not least of which was the percieved common threat posed by Nazi Germany. Modern Russian forces suffer from the same "force dividers" that affect their western counterparts. Their saving grace is a national characteristic of stoisism. Should the events of '42 to '45 be repeated...their response would be the same.

Ive got 1 question is russia communist.

Is it your view then that the rangers and delta guys who opened fire on the people below them were ill trained conscripts, acting out of fear, and poorly prepared for that theatre of operations? Are you suggesting they "suppressed" those below because they were already under fire during the run in? Perhaps you mean that US forces in the Iraq wars were conscipts and not a professional army? Would you care to clarify?

Fear, fire suppression, lack of regional specific training are a bad combination in urban scenarios. I don't give two shits for what some Nazi baby killer whines during WWII. We have a professional army when no conscripts are involved. That did not occur during several wars the results were less than professional behaviour: ...obvious to anyone. I suppose the Russians (some REAL bad boys!) had a saying during WWII: "When the Germans start to fight Men they shit themselves commit suicide".

as23we12 is right on most of his points. You guys are blind. Well, maybe I disagree to some of his points but I still respect what he thinks and he's thinking right.
