actually it's the exact same jump you would do for long jump, except you're jamming a 16 foot pole into a hole, storing energy in the pole, then it returns it to you.

lol, right now the best german vaulter is raphael holzdeppe, a "black" guy who jumps 5.80, the nice thing is that he is a junior.. he is going to break the wr.

yea... 19-1/4 is pretty insane... but he has been training for the last 12 years of his life... so he has a great advantage already... i wouldn't count him as a definate WR holder yet... he still has a lot of tecnique and strength to improve upon before he is there... but its possible..
