Jack Nicholson winning an Oscar® for "Terms of Endearment"

I LOVE Jack nicholson one of the best actors of our time

I love the young kids who come on here and say "Jack Nicholson isn't that great!" only to find out their knowledge of his work extends to "The Shining", "The Departed" and maybe 1988's "Batman". Ask them about "Terms", "Chinatown", "The Last Detail" or, hell, "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever" and I bet you'll get nothing but a big blank look of youthful despair and embarrassment.

I love Jack Nicholson! He's a superhuman phenomenon!

I watched all his movies, even those when he was young and wasn't famous in 60-s before easy rider. I wanted to say that in Terms of Endearment he played himself. In this movie he didn't even create a character, he played himself in everyday life. How can they give Oscar for that? Everybody can appear beside the camera, shows himself and takes Oscar for that. This is ridiculous. He should have won for The Shining, this win was compensation.

You also don't "get" capital letters, punctuation, spelling,(in regards to your comment) or obviously what makes a good acting performance in general. Ledger did a good job on TDK, just do us all a favor and don't compare him to Jack. Just cause he's dead doesn't make him the best actor ever, and doesn't make him even in Jack's league. Seeing as I'm sure your knowledge of movies is limited to the superhero genre I fell no need to continue.

I think the loud pop he got pretty much gave that away. Now I've got to watch this movie!

dx, you havent got a clue what you are talking about. you ever watched the departed? cos as far as i know jack nicholson isnt a gangster. or as good as it gets? cos he hasnt got o.c.d. how about anger management? about schmidt? one flew over the cuckoos nest? the list goes on, as does the list of insults i could throw at you.

Jack Nicholson deserved his Oscar, Charles Durning should've been nominated and won for Dog Day Afternoon, Rip Torn deserved his nomination, Timothy Hutton deserved his Oscar win, and Mary Tyler Moore should've won for Best Actress in '80. That's all I'm going to say.
