Kathy Bates is a happy woman and is both fun and funny to work with!
Her personality with her taking on the role in Titanic as Molly Brown is not far off the mark of how she is in real life, sharp, funny, and heartfelt ans caring!
All the best to you friend!

This is by far one of my absolute favorite films. It is also my favorite score by the composer (Elfman). I've written several papers (college) on this particular movie and continue to enjoy it immensely. This is singularly, I believe Kathy Bates' most underrated performance. How wonderful it must have been to have worked on the film. Intensely hard work, nonetheless I imagine.

Oh thank you so much, well it was all a work of love and everyone involved really poured their hearts and 100% effort into this little masterpiece.
On behalf of the crew and cast...thanks everyone, I am looking forward to the deluxe 2 dvd Blue Ray edition coming out next year from what I heard from Taylor!

So are you saying Stephen King says that most movies are better than the books?
I do agree that the movie is better, though.
|
No not at all, however I do recall he was on the set and he worked on the screenplay adaptation himself along with the movie production screen-writers all to put out the best adaptation for the cinema, I recall him saying at a press conference it was an improvement over his novel, I was still getting my legs in the industry, and listened more than talked, before producing and directing and writing, for myself others now.
Thanks for the complements on the film!

"i do have a gay younger brother and it breaks my heart.."
HUH? Why would it 'break your heart'? I'm sure he's perfectly fine with it. It's you who's manifesteing your homophobia - even when you don't realize what you write.

"Looks like "The Colonel" needed to calm down, I was just online subcategorizing certain film clips while you two were having your um discussions?"
Thanks Amy. Thanks for recognizing what I read for what it is. Then this Col. dude wants to be my friend? Don't think so. I love Kathy Bates' acting but I've always found Jason Leigh to be invariably unbelievable in her roles not just this one. I'm sure she's very nice. Again thanks for your recognition of the overt homophobia in Col's remark.

Thanks and I respect you and your opinion, on this one we might not agree, however I must tell you that working on Dolores Claiborne really gave me my so called "big break" in the industry, and from there I went on to work on Xena and other great series and films for Universal Studio's and others.
This page I have on youtube is a "scouting" venture more than anything else, always looking for new talent and fresh faces!
Well it is 3:00 am and I am off to beddy!
ttyl my new online friend!

In your honor Amy I'm going to take a second look at Jennifer's other work. You're such a kind woman that I cannot imagine you'd be too off the mark!
It must have been a BLAST to work with Kathy Bates. Is she as interesting in person as she seems to emote on screen? Her wonderfully silly movie with Rupert Everett "Unconditional Love" is an all-time kitsch favorite of mine ..
On and by the way? I love the "bossa nova" scene just before Bates' character settles up with her husband.

Hi Shubael,
This was so long ago! I was working in Nova Scotia on the Taylor Hackford project with both Kathy Bates and Jennifer Leigh as a dialogue coach. The reason you are hearing Ms. Leigh character mumbling so much in the story was because she was playing a pill popping/drunkard role, one who was barely in control of herself @ times throughout the movie, and did not understand why she was like this due to blanking out her abusive father from her childhood.
