There are 2000 flying hours left in the airframe and wing spars. It would need stripping down and rebuilding and testing and also a very large insurance premium to get it to fly. It would cost many thousands.

If this plane has flown lately I,m sure the Civil Aviation Authority would love to hear about it

ollylewin ; you are the stupid boy ;)

That machine is desperate to fly. You can see the lift is just about to get her airbourne, then they close the throttles. This aircraft has actually flown recently- just check google and type in "lancaster in flight on google earth". You tell me thats not this aircraft. Naughty boys!!
its not this aircraft its the BBMF lancaster, the only airworthy example left in england. the only other one being in canada.
What needs to be done to make her airworthy?
as far as i know, it needs a complete rebuild, maintenance and checks, and new wingspars
Wonderful stuff. No, she'll never fly. In a bizarre way she's too valuable to fly. However, when the BBMF Lanc' is retired then perhaps 'Just Jane' will be restored to flying condition?
Naaah they'll NEVER retire the BBMF lancaster. It will fly forever!!!!
Ahh, you beat me to it. I was videoing this event too.
Excellent shot, you reckon they'll ever get this thing to fly?
