this is great, and you know, for some reason this really strongly reminds me of the Oogie Boogie scene in Nightmare Before Christmas... seriously. maybe it's the style of music, the gambling ghostly background images.. i don't know exactly, but it's awesome ;)

After 1935 the Hayes Code of film production was enforced due to pressure from conservative church groups. One of the texts of the Hayes code was that no female, live or animated, could be dressed in any way as to be sexually suggestive. ALL pre-'35 Betty Boop cartoon shorts were banned for many years. If you can, watch the documentary "Complicated Women", frequently shown on Turner Classic Movies in the US. It explains the Hayes Code and how it effected women in film from then on.
