Ringling Brothers Circus Cruelty Continues

Video Title : Ringling Brothers Circus Cruelty Continues
Description : In 2006, PETA openly monitored Ringling's traveling units. The footage shows some of the cruelty that we documented, including the fact that elephants with stiff joints and chronic lameness were kept more...on the road and aggressive use of the bullhook. One scene depicts a Ringling trainer inflicting a bloody bullhook wound behind the left ear of an elephant. The elephant responds with a series of squeals. A bullhook resembles a fireplace poker and has a sharp steel hook and point.

Protest Ringling Bros in Pittsburgh Saturday, November 1st at 5:30 PM at Mellon Arena, Mario Lemiux Place. Contact me for more details.

Actually, Ringling has said on several occasions when confronted about their animal cruelty, that they'll stop when people stop going. You pay for this cruelty every time you go. You pay for it and you condone it.

wingtip, you are such a moron I don't even know where to start, so I won't even bother. You need to just grow up, take your lunch box and go back to grammar school, get up to at least a fourth-grade education, and then, only then, can you come back here and speak with the adults.

wing: you are sad and ignorant but perhaps not beyond hope. If you "love going to the show" try Cirque du Soleil, an awesome human-only circus that is WAY better than any lame animal show. And please don't try to excuse the use of whips on your fellow mammals who were dragged from their mothers as babies and have lived their whole lives in crappy little cages and forced to perfom silly tricks for witless visitors. If they weren't there in the first place there would be no need for whips at all.

Its so sad tht the lagest anaimal on earth can cry like that!:(

the point is there ARE WILD!!!! and they should not be in the circus thts the last place they should be ! Do you care about animals btw i am just wondering? wingtipdr

Wrong, it is because they have always been wild or because the trainer/handler made a mistake. I have been handing exotic animals for over 5 years and the only times I have been attacked were when I screwed up. What do you know about animals? I am currently a junior in college getting my BS in Zoology and I have been studying animals in detail sine I was 16. Last week a friend of mine (a vet) and I watched the circus and the only health problem we saw was a bit of arthritis in one elephant.

Ringling Brothers Circus: Taking Animal Exploitation into the 21st Century!

Sure, if you continue to close your eyes to the exploitation of circus animals and keep going to shows, you won't make any difference. But you could help a lot if if you not only stop going, but tell everyone you know about the inherent cruelty that goes on behind the scenes, and they tell everyone THEY know.... and so on, you could make a big difference. Don't be so apathetic.

amieamicanovia The Tenneessee Walking horses have a caustic chemical put just above the hooves on their front legs. Once the area is sore, heavy chains are put on their legs. Every time the horse puts his hoof on the groung these chains bang into the sore spot which causes the horses to lift their legs up as quickly as possible. This is known as "soring the horse." It is extremely painful and some horses can't even stand up in their stall, but lay down moaning in pain.
